workshop

AATB was invited to the Seoul Institue of the Arts for a three weeks residency and workshop. The workshop is open to students from different majors: Performing Art: Theatre, Dance, Playwriting, Korean Music, Applied Music and Media: Film, Broadcasting, Visual Design, Creative Writing, Digital Art.

In this workshop, we work in a virtual environment, taking mundane objects from everyday life as a starting point. By precisely 3D scanning physical objects, we digitise these fragments of reality, with their textures and materialities. In a second phase, we work with a motion capture system to record (human) movements in space. Then, by linking the movements with the objects, we breath life into these objects – they become alive. Different movements create different kinds of expressions, and different objects can start to interact with each other. These objects shall question, confuse, adapt, and/or extend a common, everyday object and the way it is used. These moving objects could be critical agents of protest, celebrations (or warnings) of what-could-be-to-come, or simply provide a new way of experiencing the familiar.
