AATB for Miles Greenberg at La Biennale di Venezia: an 8 hours performance installation by Miles Greenberg, based on the iconography of Saint Sebastian, during the opening weekend of the Venice Biennale.

On the occasion of the opening of the 60th Venice Biennale, the Museum Berggruen – Neue Nationalgalerie presents a new performance work by Miles Greenberg. Co-curated by Klaus Biesenbach and Lisa Botti, Greenberg’s durational performance Sebastian forms a dialogue with the iconography of Saint Sebastian at the Gallerie dell’Accademia, as well as with Venice’s storied blackamoor motifs. This piece, as opposed to a linear narrative, shall be presented as open ritual over the course of eight hours at the historic Palazzo Malipiero.

Four robotic arms, each equipped with a camera, are set up around the performer, fluidly moving around him and capturing him for the entire duration of the piece.
